Manage brand users already set up as buyers

When adding a new Brand user in NuORDER, you might receive the following error message: This user already exists in the system as a BUYER account. This article explains why this happened and how to resolve it.

Why did this happen?

In NuORDER, each email address is linked to a single user account type—either Buyer or Brand user. This error occurs when the email address entered for the new Brand user is already associated with a Buyer user, on the same or another NuORDER portal.

If a user is removed from a brand, they lose access to that portal, but their account remains active, allowing access to other portals or brands. This ensures users can work seamlessly across multiple brands.

While a person can have both a Buyer and Brand user account, the same email address can't be used for both.

How do I resolve it?

You can either use a different email address for the Brand user or ask the person with the Buyer user to update their email address. 

Option 1 (recommended): Use a different email address for the Brand user 

Enter a different email address when creating the Brand user.

Option 2: Update the Buyer user's email address

If an alternative email address isn’t available for the Brand user, you’ll need to update the email address associated with the existing Buyer user.

Note: If you or the Buyer user can't access the Buyer account's email, you’ll need to enter a new email address for the Brand user, as recommended in Option 1.

The person with the Buyer user account must follow these steps to edit their profile:

  1. Log in to NuORDER:
    Use your Buyer user credentials.

  2. Open your profile:
    Select your initials in the circle at the bottom-left corner of the screen to access your Profile Information.

  3. Change your email address:
    Update the Email field with a different email address.

  4. Save your changes:
    Select Save to finalize the update.

  5. Verify your email address:
    A verification email will be sent to the newly added Buyer email address. Select the link in the email to verify the change of address. After this is verified, the original email address will be freed up and can be reused as a Brand user.
