Note: Contact your Account Manager to enable promotions.

Q: Where do I create and manage promotions?

A: If enabled, Brand Admins can navigate to Settings > Brand Admin > Promotions > Manage promotions.

Q: Does a tiered promotion count as one or the number of tiers?

Example: $1-$1000 order = 3% off, $1001-$2000 = 5% off, etc. Is this configured as 1 or 2 promotions inside of NuOrder’s promotion manager?

A: Each tier is a separate promotion. The discount is the main distinction between promotions. You can have multiple qualifiers for a promotion, but you can only have one discount per promotion. See Create and edit Promotions for a video showing you how to set up an example series of product promotions, each with an increased percentage off with the more the buyer purchases.

Q: What types of promotions are available?

A: Promotions can be configured at the Order or Product level, with select criteria for each promotion type. The discount can be a Percentage Off or an Amount Off.

Q: What are some commonly configured promotions?

A: Check out these example selections:

Order promotion types Selections
% off an order 10% off (or 20% off) of orders.
% off an order on qualifying amount 10% off (or 20% off) of $200 orders.
$ amount off an order $10 off of $100 orders.
$15 off of $200 orders.
Product promotion types Selections
% amount off the subtotal of entries Buy products from a specific category to get 10% off of the item subtotal.
$ amount off the subtotal of entries Buy products from a specific category to get $10 off of the item subtotal.
$ amount off individual entries Buy products from a specific category to get $10 off each item.

Q: Can promotions vary by customer or be offered to specific customers only? Can promotions vary by Customer Group? Where is this managed?

A: Yes. When configuring a promotion, you can use the Audience section to select:

  • All Customers (default): Choose this option to apply the promotion to all customers.
  • Companies: Select one or more company contacts.
    • Tip: Use the Search field to locate companies by name.
  • Customer Groups: Select one, multiple, or all customer groups.

Q: Can I get the promotional discount if my order is split into multiple orders?

A: Yes. You still receive the promotional discount if your submitted order qualifies for a promotion, and it splits into multiple orders. See Promotions on Split Orders

Q: Can I see promotion information on exported orders?

A: Yes. Brand admins can configure two types of order exports to display promotion information for a single order or multiple orders. For more information, see Promotions on order exports.

Q: Can I see which orders have an applied promotion?

A: Yes. From the left navigation menu, go to Orders. Enter the promotion name in the Promotion filter to refine the list to only orders with that promotion.

Q: How can I combine promotions?

In the edit page of each promotion, use the Promotion combinations section to choose which promotion types to combine with the one you’re creating.

Q: What’s the default Promotion combinations status of a promotion that I just created?

For Promotion combinations, the default setting leaves all boxes unchecked, treating the promotion as standalone and only the qualifying promotion with the highest savings applies.

Q: What happens when an order qualifies for more than one promotion?

A: The outcome depends on the selected Promotion combinations.

If no Promotion combinations are selected, only the promotion with the highest savings applies.

If one or more Promotion combinations are selected, all eligible promotions apply. Discounts are stacked in the following order, depending on the selected Promotion combinations: company-level, product-level, and then promotion-level.

Example for a $100 product that qualifies for each:

  • Company-level (10%) discount: $100 * 10% = $10 off. $90 discounted wholesale.
  • Product-level (10%) discount: $90 * 10% = $9 off. $81 discounted wholesale.
  • Promotion-level (10% discount): $81 * 10% = $8.10 off. $72.90 final discounted wholesale

Q: When using Promotion combinations, can I specify which promotions to combine and which to exclude?

A: No. When promotions are combined, all eligible promotions apply.

Q: What happens when an order is eligible for multiple Free shipping promotions?

A: Only one Free shipping reward is applied, and the order’s shipping cost is set to zero.

Q: What happens if an order qualifies for multiple Net terms extension promotions?

A: Only one Net terms extension reward is applied, and they can't be combined. The Net terms extension reward with the most days is applied to the order.

Q: How are multiple rewards applied to a promotion?

The following logic applies, based on the reward type:

Reward type Outcome
Discount Apply the promotion(s) with the largest discount dollar amount.
Free Shipping Apply the promotion that reduces shipping cost to zero with the largest shipping discount.
Net terms extension Apply the promotion with the longest extension period.

Q: Can I create a promotion that rewards buyers for their previous orders?

A: Yes, there are two options.

Option 1 - In the promotion’s Eligibility rules, add two rules: Conditional date range and Order amount total.

  • Conditional date range: Enter a past date range. The promotion applies if criteria are met within this range. Conditional date range must be paired with at least one other rule type.
  • Order amount total: Enter an amount for At least (required) and At most (optional).

Option 2 - In the promotion’s Eligibility rules, add two rules: Conditional date range and Shipped Amount.

  • Conditional date range: Enter a past date range. The promotion applies if criteria are met within this range. Conditional date range must be paired with at least one other rule type.
  • Shipped Amount: Enter an amount for At least (required) and At most (optional).

Q: What Eligibility rules can be combined with Conditional date range?

A: Conditional date range can be paired with either Shipped amount or Order amount total.

Q: What’s the difference between Order amount total and Shipped amount?

A: Order amount total is based on submitted orders, while Shipped amount reflects what’s actually shipped. Both options exist because orders aren’t always shipped right away.

Q: How does a promotional discount work when combining the Conditional date range, Shipped amount, and Order amount total rules?

A: The promotion applies only when all criteria are met. Example promotion:

Eligibility rules:

  • Shipped amount - At least: $10000, At most: $50000.
  • Order amount total - At least: $10000, At most: $50000.
  • Conditional date range - Start date: Jul 1, 2024, End date: Sep 30, 2024

Reward applied:

  • Percentage off - Discount value: 20%

Outcome:

The buyer receives the 20% promotional discount if they meet both criteria:

  1. Achieved a cumulative Order amount total between $10,000 - $50,000 within July 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024.
    AND
  2. Achieved a cumulative Shipped amount between $10,000 - $50,000 within July 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024.

Q: Can I use the Shipped amount rule without pairing it with the Conditional date range rule?

A: No. Conditional date range is required for the Shipped amount rule.

Q: Can I use the Order amount total rule without pairing it with the Conditional date range rule?

A: Yes. When Order amount total isn’t paired with Conditional date range, the promotion eligibility is based on the current Working Order.

Q: Can Conditional date ranges occur in the future?

A: No. Conditional date ranges are in place to reward buyers for their past behavior, so the dates must occur in the past.

Q: Can I include threshold messaging when using a Conditional date range rule?

A: No. Threshold messages show promotion potential for the current Working Order, while Conditional date ranges must occur in the past.

Q: When Eligibility rules are met, does the promotional discount apply to the current order or past orders?

A: The promotional discount applies to the current Working Order only. The Promotions feature doesn’t support retroactive discounts on past orders.

Q: Do promotional discounts appear on placed orders?

A: Yes. When reviewing a placed order (standard or EZ Order) from the Order Details page, PDF, or email, the Price Adjustments menu includes a list of discounts (promotional, company, or manual).

Q: When filtering by promotion name, does the search look for orders with all of the order promotion names or just one?

A: The promotion name filter uses “OR” logic, looking for orders with any of the entered promotion name(s). For example, a search for promotion names Promotion A, Promotion B, or Promotion C will display any order with one of the specified promotion names.

Q: What happens to a Promotion if I make edits from my ERP?

A: When using your ERP to push updates to an order in NuORDER:

  • Qualifying promotions will not be removed, even if they’re no longer active Promotions in NuORDER.
  • New Promotions will not be added, so the order in your ERP and in NuORDER remain in sync.

Q: Can brands set up one-off promo codes, so buyers can enter these instead of built-in promotions for all buyers? Can brands set these up and give out to select buyers similar to how B2C promo codes work?

A: Coupon codes are not currently included in promotions. If your band has a business need for coupon codes that you would like to share with our Product team, please contact our Support team regarding this Improvement Request.

Q: Can brands set up BoGo or Buy X Get Y promotions in NuOrder?

A: The ability to create BoGo or Buy X Get Y promotions are not currently included in promotions. If your band has a business need for coupon codes that you would like to share with our Product team, please contact our Support team regarding this Improvement Request.

Q: Do custom product schema fields need to be searchable to be used as an eligibility rule for a promotion?

A: No.
