Sizing errors and how to resolve them

Throughout the allocation process, there are several errors or warnings that you may encounter when an action was unsuccessful. These notifications will help you identify which items require your attention and where action is needed. In this article, we outline what these various error states are, how they occur, and how you can resolve them.

Where will I see errors?

When an error or warning occurs, you will be notified in a few different places:

  • Assortment Notification Box - this colored box will appear at the top of your assortment above the Grid after the issue was encountered.

  • CDP Notification Box - a similar colored box can be seen inside the Cart Details Page as well when you click on a product image and open this product modal.

  • Cell Tooltip - these icons inside certain cells will give a visual indication of which row(s) require attention. If you hover your mouse over the tooltip icon, you will see a message about what the issue is. Tooltips can be found in two different sizing columns: Size Lookup and Sizing Status. These tooltips will also be visible in the CDP.

What do the different error states mean?

Size Lookup errors

When will I see these?   Errors in the Size Lookup column occur after clicking Find Size Ranges in the assortment menu.

Why does this happen?   The Find Size Ranges action performs a lookup to try to match data from your retailer’s size curves against the information in each product row. This information includes your retailer-required fields, like Department #, and the Vendor Sizes that come from the brand. When a match is found, the system populates the Selected Sizes column. However, an error from this lookup means a match could not be successfully found.

Error type

What it means

How to resolve it

No size range found

Zero (0) size ranges were found in the retailer’s size curve data to match the product row information (i.e. Department #).

  1. Update the product row information that is used in the lookup
  2. Select Find Size Ranges again to retry with the updated information

Or, to bypass the lookup, copy/paste sizes from another cell into the Selected Sizes cell.

Matching size range not found

Size range(s) were found that match the product row information, but the range(s) DO NOT match the Vendor Sizes

  1. Double click into the Selected Sizes cell to open the popup
  2. Click the dropdown that says “Please select range
  3. Here you will see any size ranges that were found
  4. Manually select the range that you’d like to use for that row

Sizing Status errors

When will I see these?   Errors in the Sizing Status column occur after clicking Apply Size Curves in the assortment menu.

Why does this happen?   TheApply Size Curves action performs a similar lookup to try to match data from your retailer’s size curves against the information in each product row. This time, however, the lookup is performed against every door that has units written in that row. When a matching curve is found, the curve name will be populated in the Size Curve column, and any bulk door units will be allocated and distributed down to the Selected Sizes based on that door’s percent distribution curve. An error in the Sizing Status column means that there were issues with that allocation.

What it means

How to resolve it

Size curve not found

Zero (0) size curves were found in the retailer’s size curve data to match the product row information (i.e. Department #).

  1. Check the product row information that is used in the lookup to make sure it is accurate
  2. Update if needed and select Apply Size Curves again to retry with the updated information

If the information is accurate, contact your retailer admin to update the curve data.

To bypass the lookup:

  1. Copy/paste a curve name from another cell into the Size Curve cell
  2. Select Apply Size Curves to allocate using that pasted curve

Or you can open the CDP to manually key in size units for each door

Door curve not found

A matching size curve was found, however the retailer’s size curve data was incomplete so that allocation was not possible across all doors in your assortment.

If the information is accurate, contact your retailer admin to update the curve data.

To bypass the lookup:

  1. Copy/paste a curve name from another cell into the Size Curve cell
  2. Select Apply Size Curves to allocate using that pasted curve

Or you can open the CDP to manually key in size units for each door.

Size totals do not match bulks

The sum of allocated size units does not equal the total bulk units entered in the Grid.

  1. Open the CDP to view the details of how bulk units were distributed by size by door
  2. Doors where size totals and bulk units are not equal will be denoted with a red number in the Door Totals row
  3. Manually key in size units as desired until all doors have matching bulks and size totals

Manually added size(s) contain zero units

A size was manually added to the Selected Sizes column. Since that size was not a part of the curve, it did not receive any units from allocation.

  1. Open the CDP to view the details of how bulk units were distributed by size by door
  2. Note that the manually added size has zero units in each door
  3. Manually key in size units as desired for the added size and ensure size totals and bulks match before returning to the Grid

Bulk units do not align with pack constraints

The bulk units written for that product x door can not be adequately allocated to match the constraints set by the size pack(s) selected.

When your bulk units cannot adequately fit the ratio prescribed by the size pack(s) you’ve selected, you’ll need to adjust your bulk units to match your allocated size units.

  1. Open the CDP to view the details of how bulk units were distributed by size by door
  2. Doors where size totals and bulk units are not equal will be denoted with a red number in the Door Totals row
  3. Manually key in bulk units to match size totals

Or to automatically resolve these errors, select Accept Pack Results from the bulk action menu or CDP menu.

Sizing was unsuccessful with the selected tolerance

Our sizing algorithm was unable to allocate units in a way that aligns with the pack constraints (e.g., pack ratios) and fits within your designated tolerance level.

Update the tolerance setting in your assortment by following these steps:

  1. Open your assortment
  2. Click on the kabob menu in the top-right corner of an assortment and select Size Settings
  3. Increase the tolerance as needed to meet the pack constraints

Selected Sizes do not align with Pack(s)

The Selected Packs for that product contain one or more sizes that have not been chosen within Selected Sizes.

  1. Open the CDP and scroll down to the Available Packs table to confirm which sizes must be selected for this pack
  2. Update the Selected Sizes field to match the pack’s sizes
  3. Click Apply Size Curves to resize this product
